The copper smelter

The "Historisches Kupferbergwerk Düppenweiler - Verein für Geschichte und Kultur e.V." association, which runs the visitor mine, demonstrates historical smelting techniques to visitors on "smelter days". Cultural events, such as the mining winter market on the 3rd weekend of Advent with the traditional Mettenschicht, are held on the culture and play area located in the immediate vicinity of the buildings. In this way, the concept of staged cultural history pursued at the Düppenweiler Historic Copper Mine is taken into account. The copper smelter with the copper smelting works and stamping works and the associated water technology is unique, at least in the Saarland, and represents a further tourist attraction at the Düppenweiler Historic Copper Mine.
