A new altar table for the Barbara Chapel at the Düppenweiler copper mine

It was some years ago when Günter Fuchs and Werner Kockler built the upper part of the altar. At that time it was already clear that an altar table would also have to be made. Stefan Müllenbach (grandson of the deceased club member Alfred Müllenbach) and Werner Kockler have now realized this, with Stefan having the main part in it.

The altar slab is carved with the traditional saying "O Lord, let ores grow! Amen." is carved. This continues what is depicted above the upper part of the altar: God - in the symbol of the cross - who stands above the earth (golden quarter sphere) and makes the ore grow - here in the form of 7 rays symbolizing the most important ores (from left to right: lead, tin, iron, gold, copper, mercury and silver). This upper part has now also been restored by our chairman Werner.  On the altar table three symbols are shown: on the left the counted miners (deliberately unjustly transposed), in the middle the cross (both crosses embrace quasi the whole world; this cross is made of about 300 years old wood from our mine) and on the right the coat of arms of the builder of the old mine chapel Remacle Joseph Hauzeur. A connection between the upper part of the altar and the altar table will also be made, some decorations will have to be added and the upper part of the altar will have to be freshened up again. We hope that the windows will be finished in spring and then only the blessing of this third chapel in Düppenweiler will be missing. The "Tuesday Team" (Ralf Becker and Thorsten Oehm) also lent a hand in setting up the altar.  A heartfelt "Vergelts Gott" to all of you!
